I am a Year 7 student at Edmund Hillary School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Room 9 and my teacher is Roya. This is a place where I will share my learning. Are Heroes Ordinary People?
Are they?
Kia ora everyone, My name is Victoria
Today I will be speaking to you on the topic of heroes. Are heroes ordinary people?
Well In my opinion, I believe that heroes are ordinary people, because they
are born the same way as us, they bleed the same colour blood as us,
and they function the same way as us.The only reason that makes them
seem different to the eyes of society is the way that they choose to impact
the world.
For example, singers. Some people see singers as heroes, because the
lyrics in their songs may help them with their everyday struggles.
Another example are police officers, doctors and nurses, lets not forget
about our firefighters who are putting their lives on the line for us everyday,
Again, these people are ordinary people who are just like us, but they choose
to make a difference in the world everyday by taking extreme risks.
Have you ever heard of Sir Edmund Hillary? Well, he was one of the bravest
men because he was the first, with the help of Tenzing Norgay to reach the
summit of Mount Everest. The highest mountain peak in the world! Do you
know why he became a hero? Not forgetting that in Nepal he built schools for
children who couldn’t afford to go school and in addition he also managed to build
hospitals and clinics . People in Nepal are very grateful for what he has done. Did you
know that even some of the trees in our school were actually planted by Sir Edmund
Hillary himself.
He is an inspiration to many people, including myself.
Now the question I would like to leave with you is, who is
your ordinary hero`
Are they motivating you to make a difference?
Thank you for your time and for listening
I hope you all enjoyed my speech.
